Using location information
The homepage displays an approximate area associated with your public IP address and, if you allow it, values supplied by your browser and device. Either reading may be inaccurate and may not identify the correct address, building entrance, or safe route. Check the device reading's accuracy radius and your surroundings before relying on a point. For urgent help, contact the local emergency service and give them a clear description of your location and nearby landmarks.
The explanatory pages provide general information. They are not navigation, emergency response, surveying, or professional advice. You remain responsible for deciding whether a result is suitable for your purpose.
External websites
The automatic IP estimate is supplied by GeoJS. The embedded maps on the homepage, IP address page, and city page, as well as separate map links, are provided by OpenStreetMap. These and other external services are run by their own publishers, who control their content, availability, and privacy practices. An embedded map receives the approximate map area when it loads. Showing a device point on the homepage map, or opening a device map link, sends device coordinates to OpenStreetMap. The country outline map is served from this site using generalized Natural Earth data.
Use of this publication
You may read, link to, and share individual pages. Original text, design, and code are protected by applicable intellectual property law. Do not republish substantial parts or use automated access that disrupts availability without permission. This does not limit uses permitted by law, including lawful quotation.
Changes and law
We may correct or remove pages and tools as browser behavior or technical sources change.
