How Find My Current Location explains browser location and reviews its technical guidance.
Scope
This publication explains IP and browser location for a general audience. The homepage displays an approximate area associated with the visitor's public IP address, then offers an optional device reading with latitude, longitude, accuracy radius, and time supplied by the browser. Editorial pages explain what those values mean, what can affect them, and when a reader may wish to check a result on a map. We do not treat either reading as proof of a person's exact address.
Sources and review
Technical statements about the Geolocation API and its accuracy property are checked against MDN's Geolocation API reference and accuracy property reference. The fields returned for the approximate IP result are described in the GeoJS API documentation. Links are placed beside explanations so a reader can inspect the underlying documentation. When a page describes a limitation, we try to state the condition plainly rather than promise the same behavior across every device and browser.
Browser interfaces, permission settings, and device behavior can change. We revise an explanation when a cited source or the site's own behavior changes. The location reading itself is generated on the visitor's device and is not an editorial measurement. We cannot verify an individual result or guarantee that a map point matches a street entrance.
The country outline map uses simplified Natural Earth boundaries, while the IP and city maps place a point returned by GeoJS on OpenStreetMap. Those visuals answer different questions: an outline shows a selected country, and an IP point shows a network estimate. We label both sources and avoid presenting a database point as the visitor's measured position. The country page explains how to change the map selection without changing the IP result.
